Monster Bash Miniature Pinball Video

Well, my vocation is clearly crafting miniature models, and not shooting video's, so please accept my apologies if this video is not up there with  Stanley Kubrick's finest, but you get the idea.

In the video is a hand crafted 1/12th Scale Monster Bash Pinball Table, which has custom LED lighting installed.  I wanted the playfield to illuminate in multiple colours and also for the backglass to have a flashing effect, and I am actually super happy with how this bad boy turned out.

Pinball Alley - Teensy Tiny Version

Yeah so in addition to creating miniature collectibles, I am also a touch obsessed with photographing them too ... 

All the models in this post are in a/12th scale, and stand approx 6 inches tall.  

All my work is 100% hand crafted.  I had the option to use a 3D printer, but I am making a stand against the 21st Century!  Too much synthetic-ness ( is that a real word ? i dunno )  in this plastic world of ours, so i wanted to keep authentic and increase the love put into each item, and thus i choose to 100% hand craft every item i make so that every teensy tiny detail you see in these photo's was hand crafted by my own fair hands!

Let there be Light!

The pinball models i create can come with bespoke custom LED lighting effects.

Here is it glowing spooky red from the playfield and backglass

You can choose from constant glow, slow colour changing, and rapid flashing lights in a variety of colours.  I build whatever my clients preference is into the models

I use pro grade LED lighting, that is powered by removable battery packs, which i build into the models, and an on/off switch on the base.

The LED light up Pinball models, i build for £49.99 GBP, and each one is a one off custom build to your exact chosen lighting spec.  I believe in offering a 100% bespoke hand crafted service in which the customer is fully involved all the way through the design process.

I was recently commissioned to create a 1/12th scale Gottlieb Haunted House Pinball Model, in which the client wanted  slow colour changing soft glow lighting. It is for a Halloween display and the design spec from the client requested " spooky type lighting "


I will just for some interest,  walk you through the design and build process ;

Firstly i hand craft the pinball cabinet itself.  This is an exact 1/12th scale reproduction of the full size pinball table cabinet. I build the cabinet from wood, and create the interior of the cabinet to house the electronics, removable battery pack and also the wiring and LED bulbs

Woodwork constructed and a dry run of sorts for the wiring etc

Then i prime and paint the cabinet, spraying it matte black as a base.  I check everything fits again and all is good, and only then do i commit to decorating the cabinet

Here we are primed and painted and lighting testing again.

I work on the model by adding all the custom glossy decals, installing the backglass, fixing the LEDs into final position and installing the 3d playfield, before putting the glass overtop of the playfield, adding siderails and lockbars, and finally plunger and button detailing, and adding custom crafted hard plastic legs.   I build every leg by hand using injection molded UPVC which is hand cut to shape

Getting there now!  this is not complete but you can see the detailing taking shape

And now we are finally finished, so much love has gone into the model, and its ready to mail out to the client, to whom i sent photos of the model  at different stages of construction

Here it is finished and at home in my Shrink Ray Miniature Arcade, which looks so damn cool i might have to turn that Shrink ray on myself so i can be miniature and go play in the arcade!

Shrink Ray Gun at the Ready ...

Hello dear reader and welcome to my Blog!

My mission statement is to create what i think are the coolest, most unique miniatures in the whole universe!     I called it Shrink Ray Miniatures because i wanted my work to be so cool that it looks as if someone pointed a shrink ray gun at real life "stuff"  and just shrunk it right down.

I make a wide variety of unusual miniatures in 1/12th and also 1/6th scale, and painstakingly recreate even the smallest of details onto my miniature creations.

One of my lifelong passions is pinball and the classic coin-op arcades of my misspent childhood, and so out of a love for that subject that is an area i have focused on ...

I have recreated many hundreds of these awesome games from my youth, and have also expanded my creations to include miniature movie props and other cool stuff.

I have undertaken commissions from collectors the world over, and i am in the process if compling my testimonials and also a variety of awesome photo's my customers have sent me that show my work on display in the customers house / doll house / games room / shop etc.

I also now create miniature movie props.  This came about after a client commissioned me to make a " Rosemary's baby " scene for a dollhouse.   I created a demonic crib, and various other props including the books and other props seen in the original movie.   After that i took various commissions to recreate iconic props from such super cool movies as Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Big, The Goonies, and more
